Lost Track <--> Got Connected

I was thinking if my husband and I were traveling Japan or any other foreign country, what if we got lost while shopping on the street or department store, could we both located each other thru our iPhones? You know how GPS locate one point to another. Then I can route my location to my hushand's location.

Another case: the little kids often run around the stores, and lose track from their moms. Most of the time, they scream and cry like crazy. Can mom use the iPhone to locate their lost kids in the store? I think this app somehow need to be developed.

Biblical Information Aesthetics

It is interesting to see how Chris Harrison to visualize the Bible in cross references, people and places.

MobileLab Idea (5)

Hair Transformer - We always doubt if one's hairstyle will look good on ourselves when you see a trendy hairstyle on the stranger, friends, coworkers, etc. Here I introduce an application to preview your future look before taking action for the new haircut. Use iPhone to take picture of the person's head with your favorite hairstyle, then take a picture of your head. iPhone will merge your favorite hairstyle with your face to preview the future look.

MobileLab Idea (4)

Matching Scanner - In dating and matching gathering, the singles put their profiles and criteria of the potential in iPhone. When they hold up the iPhone towards the target, it shows up all the information about the target and whether this person will fit their requirement. If so, talk to the target; otherwise, just skip to the next one.

MobileLab Idea (3)

Traveler Translator - Visiting the foreign countries will bring the traveler into trouble if they don't speak the foreign language. The application will break the language barrier wherever around the world. Simply holding up the iPhone in front of the foreign words, it will translate to your desired language on the screen, or verse vice. For example, if you are traveling Japan and need to order ramen noodle in the local restaurant, but don't know how to speak Japanese. Simply speak English to iPhone, then it will translate to the Japanese server to order your food.

MobileLab Idea (2)

FAT MASS Sensor - install a Fat Mass Sensor in iPhone. When the user put the iPhone on the body parts such as abdominal, things, arms, and butts, it will show the the Fat Mass Index whether the user needs to do more exercises specifically one part or another. Also, iPhone would suggest what type of exercise to help reduce the fat and the duration.

MobileLab Idea (1)

Medical History Recorder - My first idea is to build an application to store the medical history of the mobile user, such as the record of diabetics, high blood pressure, cancer, heart disease, family disease, and drug/food allergy. When there is emergency, the physicians can use the iPhone to scan the patience's phone and get all the medical history to save one's life.

The 10th Week

The class is almost over. We will have 1 more class after tonight. I think this is my last blog for this class. Honestly, I will be missing this class a lot. Thanks Sharon for your teaching! You are awesome.

A breaking news!!! Before the lecture started, we saw the advertisement at Macromedia site. They are about to release the Studio 8. Today we have learned how to download and apply extension in Dreamweaver. The extension really helps to build some nice effect in website design.

Although the project 3, E-commerce site has been canceled, I can't leave it die at the middle. So, I have decided to finish the project. My site is called Geeky Garden, which is a gardening site for GEEK. It will be posted at http://www.nel-nel.com/geekygardena once it is done.

The 9th Week

This week we have learned how to apply behaviors to layers, timelines, pictures, text link, button (mouse over effect,) popup windows, etc. Before taking Web Design I, I was always hoping to be capable of doing all those things in my web design career. Sharon has explored the whole deal to us. It is actually not that hard to do it.

Wow! Final is approaching in 3 classes. I am nervous about getting it done because I want to make it look good as well as functional. So far, I only have the logo done and color scheme chosen.

I start missing this class. Summer is almost over too. Gotta enjoy the rest of the lessons!

The 8th Week

Finally I finished Project 2 - Link List. In this project, I have learned how to use the color wheel to pick the color scheme, layout the page, work with the links, organize the navigation, archor the subtitles in a long page, etc.

Last week we were assigned the final project. My topic is "Selling Gardening Supplies to Geeks." This is gonna be fun as we will need to design a logo for the shop, find the right images for the page, analyze the audience, etc.
